Let us at Scruffy 2 Fluffy Dog Grooming School help you on this wonderful journey. Dog Groomers don’t have to be qualified in Wales, so we offer Practical training, without the loads of theory work required to become qualified. You will then be recognised as a Professionally trained Dog Groomer.

At the beginning of each day:

1. You will be provided with your own model dog, which you will work on from start to finish. You will be briefed on the requests from the owners, check the dogs record card, complete the card with updated information.
2. Each day you will learn and add more skills to your portfolio of work. It’s a good idea to write down important information, ask questions, watch other groomers.
3. All learners, will be offered a apron and grooming tools to work with.
4. All our courses fit around the students existing commitments that they may have, so our courses are flexible, on days, times etc. We don’t offer evening classes, but can do Saturday mornings.

 

1/2 Day Taster Session. Cost: £80

Course length: 1/2 Day.

Course Days: Monday to Saturday.

Times 10.00am to 1.30Pm.

This session will give learners chance to see other groomers working, and have a go yourself by doing a few jobs supervised by our tutor. You will be part of the salon staff and get a feel of what dog and pet grooming is all about.

This time spent with us is very important, to see if you like us, our facilities and see if we can offer you a space on one of our courses, and ask as many questions as you like.

A added bonus, if you sign up for one of our longer courses, we will deduct the cost of the Taster session off the total price! (You must book within 1 month for this to apply

Basic Introduction To Dog Grooming Course – £600 (Level 1).

Course Days: Monday to Friday.

Course Length: (5 Days, Full or Part time hours)

Course Times: 10.00am to 3.30pm.

Guided learning hours: 28 hours.

This course is the first step in learning all about dog and pet grooming, it is perfect for students you have little or no knowledge of dogs, but interested in a career with dogs, it’s also ideal for dog owners to learn to groom their own pets confidently themselves. During this course, you will groom a minimum of 5 dogs, there are no pre-requisites to starting this course, meaning you can join our Level 2 or 3 after completing this basic level.

You will be trained in practical skills only, such as, prepping, bathing, nail and ear care,basic clipping and scissoring.

There is no Dog Grooming Theory with this course.

A CPD Certificate will be issued by Scruffy 2 Fluffy Dog Grooming 

10 Days Level 2 Dog Grooming Course. £999.00 PRACTICAL COURSE ONLY.

Course Days: Monday To Saturday.

Course Length: 10 Days Full or part time hours.

Course Times: 10.00am to 3.30pm.

Guided learning Hours: 58 hours.

No Accredited qualifications with this course. No Theory with this course.

This training course is ideal for anyone wanting to develop their basic skills, or even wish to follow a career in dog and pet grooming. Students can sign up for exams with extra costs, just ask a member of staff.

This course covers everything listed above. You will groom a minimum of 10 dogs and if you fancy trying a bit of cat grooming, you most welcome. No previous experience is necessary just a love for pets. Over the 10 day period, you will learn skills and knowledge to become a dog grooming assistant. You will be trained in Practical skills only. You can however, write up notes in your own time.

The course consists of:-

1. All of the above from our level 1 course, Health checking, preparing and bathing dogs correctly.
2. Moving and lifting dogs safely. Health and safety in the salon.Handling dogs correctly.
3. Correct drying methods, brushing, combing, and prepping the dogs coat.
4. Dealing with dogs skin,mats, health issues. Basic Canine First Aid.
5. carry out clipping and trimming according to owners requirements.
6. Students will record all dog grooming work, either by mobile phone or written, in their own time.
7. All students will have a apron and our tool kits to work with. Not included in the course.

CPD Certificate will be issued by Scruffy 2 Fluffy Dog Grooming School.

Course Days: Monday to Friday

Course length: 15 days full or part time.

Course times: 10.00am to 3.30pm.

Guided Course Hours: 160 hours.

Attending 15 Days in our training school, you will learn to groom a minimum of 15 Dogs and pets, and cover various coat types. This course is ideal for anyone wanting to build a solid foundation in their grooming ability and gain experience alongside.

NO PRIOR EXPERIENCE IS NEEDED .

ICMG – International Certified Master Groomer.

The ICMG qualification is split into three “tracks” or steps .

Certified Professional Groomer.

The first is the Certified Professional Groomer or CPG. Here candidates demonstrate their ability to bathe and prepare a dog for grooming as well as performing a kennel trim. There are also written papers covering knowledge in relation to legislation welfare, handling, diseases and first aid. Also included are sections in relation to behaviour, health and safety and bio security.

Certified Advanced Professional Groomer.

The next step is The Certified Advanced Professional Groomer (CAPG) This builds on the CPG and looks at he skills required for scissoring, clipping and styling taking into account the dogs anatomy and balance. This section mentions predominantly Toy wool coat and Double coated breeds. There are two practical assessments and one written examination.

ICMG

The final step is The Master Groomer (ICMG) As well as practical assessments relating to the 7 Kennel club groups, there are 7 multiple choice/ breed identification papers in relation to each group. Candidates are expected to be able to demonstrate a sound knowledge of breed standards to an advanced level.

ICMG Track 1 – Certified Salon Professional. £2850.

Course length: 20 Days Full or Part Time. 2 stages to complete.

Course Days: Monday to Friday.

Course times: 10.00am to 3.30pm.

Track 1 – Certified Salon Professional
• Learn how to safely prepare and bath your dogs.
• Various drying techniques taught for different coats and undercoats
• Trimming of hygiene areas explained and practised.
• Nail clipping introduced and practised.
• Advice and ideas on how to create a clean, workable environment
• Pet First Aid Certificate obtained
• Assessments
• Practical – 1 Hour Exam
• Theory – written exam covering health, hygiene, safety, skin, hair, diseases, first aid and code of ethics.

Please Note: extra fees are payable to ICMG directly for registration, membership and sitting exams £488.00.
ICMG requires groomers to demonstrate advanced grooming skills and complete written exams . The practical exams require groomers to display their skills in grooming to the breed standards and show technical skills.

This Course qualifies you to Certified Groomer allowing you to put CPG after your name. It’s a international recognised certification.

ICMG Track 2 Part 1 – Certified Professional Groomer. £. 3850.00

Course length: 30 Days. (Full or Part time hours)

Course Days: Monday to Friday.

Course Times: 10.00am to 3.30Pm

Please Note: extra fees are payable to ICMG directly for registration, membership and sitting exams £488.00.This qualification has something to offer for every learner and offers huge progression to keep you up to date throughout your career.

1. Safely execute pet trims on a variety of pure and cross breeds.
2. Learning techniques for shaping, Heads, Including Bichon Frise (Round). Schnauzer(rectangular) Spaniel and Clean faces.
3. Learn how to use clippers, know how to maintain your blades and tools.
4. Dog Behaviour, handling, moving dogs safely.
5. Codes of ethics, Health and safety.
6. Information given on setting up your own salon and how to build and market your business.
7. The qualification itself is based on all practical elements of dog grooming, starting from the very basics of bathing and drying then taking its learner right through to master styling. The CAPG qualification is enjoyable to do as it is teaching groomers what they really need to know to work and not information that won’t ever be needed once out in the real business world

Track 2 part 2 – Advanced Professional Groomer.
• Advanced grooming skills on a variety of breeds
• Special handling techniques on difficult dogs including old, young and temperamental dogs
• Learning to deal with and provide specialised care for specific coat types including hand stripping when the dogs are available.
• Assessments
• Practical – 2 x 90 Minute Exams
• Theory – written exam covering everything learnt throughout the tracks.

Once you have completed both parts of this course you can use CAPG after your name.

Course Times: 9.30am to 3.30Pm

Qualifies you to Certified Advanced Professional Groomer allowing you to put CAPG after your name.
This course is 30 days overall including practical training plus 1 day externally qualified practical exam day plus, online canine first aid workshop. Please understand all theory is done in your own time at home, this is a Adult learning course.

The International Master Groomer qualification is recognised worldwide therefore enabling you to work internationally once completed and get on track to becoming an Internationally Certified Master Groomer.
